My brother-in-law takes great pictures and I asked him if I could share this one. He obliged (thanks Den)! He lives in Sheffield, England, a northern city with a long industrial history. And even though the surrounding countryside is all rocky ridges covered in purple heather, my favourite shots are ones like this. Purple sky and a busy street.
A popular Tiktok series I do for our Reframeables podcast is me walking around our own slightly gritty neighbourhood in Toronto looking for street art. I look for inspirational imagery as prompts for thought (and get my steps in as I search). This week I’m doing that same exercise but in Miami.
My thoughts are still emerging on these — but I think that even as we are running from meeting to meeting here, the fact that I was prompted to pause and take these photos means something. At the very least they are a start. Pausing for a moment to really look outward. Seeing beyond the self even for a second and then returning to the images at different points in my day as points of reflection. My husband, a meditator, would say, “returning to the breath.”
Purple sky. Pink breath.
Good Enough.
